Black Hole Science: A Live Classroom Event
Zoom Video Communications and the Black Hole Partnerships for International Research and Education (PIRE) Project is excited to offer a free, one-hour live course to classrooms (grades 8-12) taught by two scientists and members of the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT), the global collaboration that worked to take the first-ever black hole image announced in April 2019.

The project scientists will introduce the EHT, explain the motivation for taking an image of a black hole, and highlight the technological and algorithmic advances required to obtain the image. Course time includes time for Q&A with the project scientists.

The live course is part of a larger curriculum that addresses various aspects of the Next Generation Science Standards, specifically Earth and Space Sciences and Physical Sciences. Optional course material will be available as a free pdf download after registering, providing a full curriculum designed to offer an engaging, hands-on learning experience for instructors and students.

The Black Hole PIRE project is funded by the National Science Foundation (award #1743747) and based at the University of Arizona.
